Minibus - Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What ages of proposer are you able to quote for?
A: Our Private / Public Hire TAXI product, commercial product, and product for private individuals are available for Drivers aged 25 and over.
All drivers must hold a licence to drive the vehicle or have held and is not disqualified from holding or obtaining such a licence and holds any other driving licence required by law to drive the vehicle for the purpose for which it is being used. More information is availiable at www.dvla.gov.uk
At present we are unable to offer rates for drivers 70 years or older on any of our schemes.
Q: Do I need to have a particular type of seat in my minibus for you to cover me?
A: All seats must be individual and fitted with seatbelts. We are unable to cover some vehicles where the seats are not forward facing and we are not able to cover vehicles fitted with bench seats.
Q: What vehicles can you insure? Do you insure cars?
A: We currently have products available for:
Minibuses / MPVs (people carriers) / COACHES / Cars & Vans., Motor trade, haulage, classic cars and non-standard private car insurance
Q: Can I use my PRIVATE CAR No Claims Bonus on a minibus policy?
A: If you have a private car, we're happy to accept the No Claims Bonus*, providing it has expired within the last 3 years and the policy is in the same name.

Q: Do you cover imported vehicles
A: We're able to offer quotations for any imported vehicle provided they fit within our vehicle criteria and they are UK registered.
Q: How Can I Pay ?
A: Monthly
We are able to offer a Monthly Instalment facility.
A deposit of either 10% or 20% is required to set-up the policy. Payable by Credit or Debit card. The remaining balance is then subject to a 8.75% credit charge, and split over 9 monthly payments. We also take the bank account details at the time of starting the policy.

Payment can be taken from most credit / debit cards except Visa Electron, American Express and Diners Club International cards. This is taken over the phone when the policy is set-up. Cheque payments are accepted, however the policy will not start until the time we receive the cheque in our office.
Q: Do I need to fill in any forms to go on cover with you?
A: Not always, as we have streamlined processes on many of our schemes; please call our sales team regarding this.
Q: How do we rate a vehicle that has had seats removed?
A: One of the key rating factors of a vehicle is the number of seats listed in the vehicle log-book. If a vehicle's seating capacity has been altered we can quote on the changed seating capacity providing the vehicle has been re-registered with DVLA and the log-book has been amended
Q: How do I obtain a quotation?
A: We have a dedicated sales team that handles all new business and underwriting questions. Please call us on 0845 603 6280 or complete the online request.
Q: Do you quote in Northern Ireland?
A: We are able to offer quotations for comprehensive cover on all of our schemes. We are also able to quote in the Channel Islands.
We currently have no product for the Republic of Ireland.
Q: Do you cover Self-Drive Hire?
A: We currently have no facility to cover this class of use.
Q: Can you offer quotations for Recruitment Agencies?
A: We are prepared to consider these risks but as much information as possible regarding the risk must be given. It will always be subject to our underwriting terms and conditions at the time of the quotation. Q: Can I remove the seats from my minibus?
A: We can only cover vehicles with a minimum of six passenger seats. During the course of the policy the seating capacity must remain the same, and the primary use of the vehicle must be for carrying passengers. See also Questions 2 & 8.
Q: Do your policies have a "driving other cars" extension included?
A: We currently do not offer a "driving other card" extension on any of our products.
Q: I am planning to take my minibus abroad.* Is it covered?
A: All MBP policies provide the minimum insurance cover required within all EU member countries. We can also upgrade this cover for a maximum of 14 days free of charge during each policy. If you require further foreign use, please call our sales team for advice
A tachograph and speed limiter may need to be fitted to the vehicle before driving abroad. Further information is availiable at http://www.direct.gov.uk/motoring
Q: Who handles claims enquiries?
A: We have a helpline for reporting claims - available for emergencies 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. If you wish to make a claim, call our freephone helpline on 0800 389 1708 and our team will be handle the response.
Q: Do your policies include legal cover?
A: All MBP minibus policies offer optional Uninsured Loss Recovery.
Q: Do you offer Public Liability Cover?
A: We are able to offer extended Public Liability cover for private / public hire use on our TAXI products. Public Liability Cover is a compulsory requirement for many licensing authorities: This cover indemnifies the insured up to a choice of either £5 million or £10million Limit of Indemnity extending the policyholder's cover to include losses not insured in the original motor policy.
